Coca
Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. (CCBPI) has been using a renewable source of
energy for its plants since 2009. This is in line with the company’s commitment
to improve energy efficiency within the company’s manufacturing and distribution
processes. The technology uses discarded rice hulls or ipa in which 365 kg of
such can generate one ton of steam. Coca Cola is in partnership with Amertech
Industrial Ventures in harnessing energy from rice hulls at high combustion
efficiency. A patented steam boiler is used to utilize renewable energy biomass
from these wastes.
This
renewable energy source greatly benefits not only the company but as well as
the agriculture and environment. As the technology enables Coca Cola to save
fuel for their Meycauyan plant, it also helps in the reduction of CO2 emission.
It is expected that 2,730 tons of such is expected to be reduced annually from
one plant. Imagine if all companies in the Philippines or in the world will use
renewable sources of energy for their production plants, CO2 emission will be
lessen by millions of tons which can be very helpful to eliminate global
warming on the earth. This innovation also improved the management of rice hull
waste. Before these wastes are discarded by farmers but because of the
technology, it became a useful part of generating energy for manufacturing
companies.
It
is good to know that multinational companies like Coca Cola are supporting
cleaner production through finding innovative ways of reusing waste products.
This only implies that there is hope in saving Mother Earth from all
destructions. Nothing is impossible. If people will learn to prioritize the
health of the environment, our world will be a better place like it was before. :)

It's good to know that there are companies like coca cola who apply environment friendly innovation which helps the earth. I Hope that other companies especially the companies which produce products/goods that might affect our earth's environment would also resolved to this kind of innovation which lessens negative effects to our earth. So that as they help the people through their products, they also help prolonging earth's life.

In that way they are not only saving our environment but they also serve as a role model for the other companies to take initiatives in doing something good that will benefit our environment.
