As I look for topics about cleaner production, I was led to a link which really caught my
attention. It contains an article which is about us, Industrial Engineers, and our contribution
in promoting cleaner production in the Philippines.
“UN looks to IEs for cleaner
production: Philippine IIE is a partner in
caring for the environment.”
caring for the environment.”
PIIE is being considered by UN as a PARTNER in caring for the environment. This is indeed a recognition and pride for us and for all the Industrial Engineers of our country. Our profession can really help save Mother Earth for the future generations. Our job is not only to design products and processes for improvement but also for preventing pollution and reducing risks to human and the environment. Additional responsibility, isn’t it? However, being trusted with such duties only means that IEs are very important to our world in danger nowadays.
The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers is the organization responsible in introducing and promoting cleaner production all throughout the country. They have already launched a series of seminars across the Philippines that address sustainable development, production and operations management, total quality and environmental management, and IE tools. Application of IE concepts is perceive to be a great help for cleaner production.
Since IEs plays a major role in cleaner production, I think that CP Philosophy should be added or at least incorporated to the curriculum of all universities offering Industrial Engineering course. By doing so, future IEs will be able to acquire advance knowledge on the application of IE techniques to CP resulting into the success of conserving the environment and much more, saving Mother Earth.
Thanks for Reading! :)

This blog reminds me that as a future IE, my duty is not only to design jobs for people but also to be an advocate for a greener environment.
